Analysis

Measurements with Google PageSpeed Insights, Lighthouse and field data from real visitors. We find the biggest bottlenecks first.

02

Images & fonts

Modern image formats, correct sizes, lazy loading and self-hosted fonts.

03

Code & plugins

Remove unnecessary scripts, load CSS and JavaScript only where needed, replace heavy plugins.

04

Server & caching

Page cache, object cache, a current PHP version and, if needed, faster hosting.

Why load time costs money

Visitors are impatient, especially on phones. Every extra second of load time increases the number of people who leave before they see your offer. In a shop that means fewer orders, on a company site fewer enquiries. And Google uses the Core Web Vitals as a signal when evaluating pages.

Slow WordPress sites almost always share the same causes: oversized images, too many plugins, heavy page builders, external scripts and cheap hosting. The good news: most of them can be fixed without rebuilding the site.

Our process

Step 1: Measure

We measure your key pages – home, service or product pages, and for shops category and checkout – using lab and field data, so we see what real visitors experience, not just what a test tool calculates.

Step 2: Find the causes

We check which files load, which plugins cost how much time and how fast the server responds. The result is a list of measures, sorted by impact and effort.

Step 3: Optimize

We implement the measures on a staging copy: convert images to modern formats, self-host fonts, clean up scripts, set up caching, tidy the database and update PHP. If hosting is the bottleneck, we recommend a suitable provider.

Step 4: Prove it

You receive a report with before-and-after values for every page we measured. For the hearing-aid specialist Vehr, for example, we reworked performance after an SEO audit and reached a mobile PageSpeed score of 92.

The most common brakes

On most slow WordPress websites we find the same causes. Several of them can often be fixed with manageable effort:

  • Images in far too high resolution and without modern formats
  • Page builders and themes that load a lot of unused CSS and JavaScript
  • Plugins that load scripts on every page although they are needed on one
  • External fonts, videos and tracking scripts that block loading
  • Slow database queries, for example due to bloated tables
  • Hosting without a current PHP version or server-side caching

Load time in online shops

In WooCommerce shops, speed matters especially because customers open many pages: categories, filters, products, cart and checkout. At the same time, cart and checkout can’t simply be cached because they look different for every customer. We therefore optimize the flows that generate revenue and check which extensions are really needed in checkout.

Staying fast

Speed isn't a one-off project. New plugins, tracking codes and images slow a site down again over time. Our WordPress maintenance keeps an eye on the numbers.

Frequently asked questions

Find more answers in our FAQ.

What are Core Web Vitals?

Three metrics Google uses to assess user experience: LCP (how fast the main content appears – good is up to 2.5 seconds), INP (how quickly the page responds to interactions – good is up to 200 milliseconds) and CLS (how much the layout shifts while loading – good is up to 0.1).

Does a PageSpeed score of 100 improve rankings?

Not automatically. Google mainly looks at field data from real visitors. What matters is passing the Core Web Vitals thresholds. Beyond that, speed mostly helps your visitors and your conversion rate.

Isn't a caching plugin enough?

A caching plugin helps but rarely solves everything. Huge images, too many scripts or a bloated theme stay slow. We go after the causes.

Will my site's design change?

No. We work on a staging copy and only apply the optimizations after your approval.

How long does a speed optimization take?

That depends on scope and causes. Many improvements are done within a few days. Larger changes, such as switching the page builder, are planned together with you.

Isn’t a faster server enough?

Good hosting is the foundation but rarely solves everything. If a page loads too many scripts or images that are too large, it stays slow even on the fastest server. That is why we always look at both.

How do I know the optimization worked?

We measure before and after with the same tools and show you the results. Google’s field data – measurements from real visitors – updates with some delay.

How much does a speed optimization cost?

After a first measurement we know where the biggest brakes are. Then you get a fixed-price quote for the measures with the greatest effect.
